The second funding round – which took place in winter 2013 – was under the theme of migrant issues. A total of 20 applications were received. After a thorough deliberation by a panel of independent judges, chaired by broadcaster Olivia O’Leary, awards totalling €40,000 were made to nine successful applicants from all strands of media.
Due to the investigate nature of the projects, successful applicants will not be made public before the broadcast or publication of their work. It is expected that successful projects will be broadcast or published throughout summer 2013 and will be promoted on www.maryrafteryfund.ie and on social media platforms.
